Shell cordovan is an extraordinary and rare leather, deriving from a specific layer of equine hides known as 'cordovan'. Located primarily in the rump area, each horse hide yields just two small oval pieces of cordovan, making it a truly premium material. The tanning process is an art in itself, employing age-old vegetable tannage techniques and meticulous hand finishing. This labor of love takes a full six months, resulting in one of the world's most durable and esteemed leathers, celebrated for its ability to develop a unique and beautiful patina over time.
